Souxou Mouxou Souxou mouxou means mumbling, whisper,
sometimes nagging, sometimes the verbal “work” boys do to get girls
interested, or even what girls say to make boys leave them alone. At any
rate, Souxou mouxou is difficult to define, it is more something you
know when you live it, rather than something that may be described
precisely. But this is exactly what we are trying to do with our music.
We are not so easy to classify in terms other than something as wide as
“Greek ethnic”, because we sing and play a variety of music that ranges
from centuries-old traditional tunes to relatively new pop and to what
was mysteriously known in Greece, as" art-pop”. We play the Souxou
mouxou of Greek music. What brings our diverse repertoire together is a
common sound, a wish to play good tunes wherever they come from, things
which will be fun and stimulate our interest as well as the interest of
our audience. We are certainly not comfortable with playing the only two
or three Greek songs that international audiences recognize in a
heartbeat – as if Greek music has nothing else to offer. |
| We are just a
group of people who have worked as professional musicians at some point
in our lives, some of us still do. But the group itself, as well as our
recording and out concerts are motivated by our love for music and by
our common taste. We all have played in nightclubs and concerts
throughout Canada and the US for many years, yet we all bring something
different to the group. |
